Universal Robina Corporation’s subsidiary in Malaysia, Universal Robina Munchy’s (URM), recently clinched two international awards that bolster its reputation as an excellent workplace and a top global brand. In December 2023, URM was named as one of HR Asia’s Best Companies to Work for in Asia (Malaysia Edition), while the Munchy’s brand was selected as Brand of the Year under the biscuits category in Malaysia by the World Branding Forum.
The Best Companies to Work for in Asia award is a testament to URM’s unwavering dedication to fostering exceptional workplaces, according to Rodney Wong, the company’s CEO. “The significance of this recognition underscores our commitment to creating an environment where our employees thrive,” said Wong.
URM was among 78 companies cited by HR Asia “for their exemplary environments that prioritize employee well-being and growth.” The HR Asia program covers over 20,000 companies and surveys some 1.5 million employees across Asia. URC, URM’s parent company, was also recognized in the Philippine edition of HR Asia’s list, which includes 50 organizations.
For URM’s second major award received in December, the company was an honoree at the latest edition of the World Branding Awards. Munchy’s was cited as the Brand of the Year under the biscuits category in Malaysia, the fifth straight year that it has achieved this distinction.
Billed as “The ultimate global brand recognition accolade”, the World Branding Awards program celebrates the finest global, regional, and national brands for their remarkable achievements. The winners were selected after an appraisal of their brand valuation, consumer market research, and public online voting.
“These accolades stand as evidence to our relentless pursuit of excellence, innovation, and commitment to fostering an environment where our employees flourish,” said Wong. “They further inspire us to continue pushing boundaries and setting new benchmarks in our industry.”
Established in 1991, Munchy’s has flourished into a recognized and successful brand in over 50 countries. Having acquired the Malaysian snack food giant in 2021, URC further enhanced its presence in Southeast Asia, in line with its goal of becoming a truly sustainable global enterprise.
